Historian Stephen Cohen discusses ‘War with Russia?’

Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Stephen Cohen, professor emeritus of politics at Princeton University and professor emeritus of Russian studies and history at New York University, discussed his most recent book, "War With Russia?," which “gives readers a very different, dissenting narrative of this more dangerous new Cold War from its origins in the 1990s, the actual role of Vladimir Putin, and the 2014 Ukrainian crisis to Donald Trump’s election and today’s unprecedented Russiagate allegations.”

Cohen was introduced by Stephen Kotkin, the John P. Birkelund ’52 Professor in History and International Affairs and director of the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS).

The discussion was followed by a book sale and signing.

Cohen’s other books include “Bukharin and the Bolshevik Revolution: A Political Biography,” “Rethinking the Soviet Experience; Sovieticus,” “Failed Crusade: America and the Tragedy of Post-Communist Russia,” and “Soviet Fates and Lost Alternatives.”

The event was sponsored by the Program in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.
