Leonard Wantchekon to receive honorary doctorate from Stellenbosch University

​​​Stellenbosch University in South Africa will confer an honorary doctorate on Leonard Wantchekonm, professor of politics and international affairs, in recognition of his extraordinary efforts to change the world for the better in his respective field.

Wantchekon, who is from Benin, founded the African School of Economics (ASE). "He had to overcome many hurdles to become an academic leader in his field," the selection committe wrote. "He is being acknowledged for his immense contribution to equipping the next generation of scholars with the skills, networks and belief in themselves to rise above their circumstances and become leading academics who are able to change the world for the better."
