When does the application open?
The application will open in GPS on November 1, 2021.

When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

What is needed for the application?

  • Resume
  • 1 academic recommendation

I am a first-year student. Who can write my letter of recommendation? Can it be someone from my high school?
The letter of recommendation should be from someone at Princeton. If you don’t wish to ask a faculty member, you may request a TA for a course precept to write the letter.

How do I know if my application is complete?
After you have submitted a component, you will see a check mark next to it. It is important that you not only click save, but also click submit.

How many students apply?
In 2020, we had a total of 191 applications for 135 spots. Each program takes no more than 15 students.

Can I apply to more than one program?
You can apply to more than one program, but you should only have one application in the system. The application asks you to designate a second choice.

The Italy Global Seminar is a theatre course. Do I have to audition?
No prior theatre experience is required.

Do I need to know the language for the country in which I will be studying?
No prior language experience is required.

What is the duration of the seminar?
Each seminar runs for six weeks.

Where do we live?
Depending on the program, your stay may be at a hotel, college campus or a private institution site.

What does an average day/week like?
You will have class and language instruction four days/ week. The course also includes local excursions and field trips.

How much does it cost?
Seminar costs vary from $6,000 - $8,400. Program-specific information can be found in GPS and on the PIIRS website.

Is financial aid available?
PIIRS generously subsidizes the cost of each seminar. If a student is on financial aid, they will receive funding. PIIRS matches your aid percentage that you receive during the school year. However, there may be some costs that the student will incur.

Do I need to apply for the PIIRS funding?
No. PIIRS works with the Office of Financial Aid to calculate your funding award. If you require additional funding, please refer to SAFE .

When traveling to our Global Seminar, do we depart from Princeton or do we travel from home?
Generally, students will leave from their home, as all programs begin when the academic year is over. In rare instances, based upon program location, PIIRS may arrange for students to depart together.
